Sweater Workshop: Top-Down Pullover (4 weeks)
“Spin Raglan,” by Andrea Mowry
Thursdays, October 19 and 26, November 2 and 9, 6-8pm • $127
Teacher: Sunday Holm
Working with Sunday, you’ll create a wearable raglan whose sleeve and body length may be easily adjusted to fit your personal style. Andrea Mowry’s “Spin Raglan” (pattern provided with the class) is a quick and straightforward knit with welcome wardrobe payoff, worked seamlessly from the top down in heavy worsted weight yarn, with a little texture thrown in for interest. If you’d like to make yourself a classic raglan under expert guidance, this class is for you!
Pre-requisites: Participants should be familiar with the following: the long-tail cast-on, knitting, purling, basic increasing and decreasing, knitting in the round (using double-points or magic loop), and binding off.
• Heavy worsted weight yarn sufficient for your chosen sweater size, purchased from Spun. (We recommend Swans Island All American Collection Worsted, Cestari Mount Vernon Worsted, or Lorna’s Laces Shepherd’s Worsted.) (Note: Spun staff is always available to help you decide which size to make and how much yarn you need. We suggest that only one skein be wound before the first class, so that you have an opportunity to swatch before you commit to keeping your yarn: once yarn is wound, it isn’t returnable.)
• 24” size US8 AND US9 circular needles (for swatching)
• 32” circular needle OR double-points (set of five) in correct size chosen after swatching (for sleeves)
• Darning or tapestry needle
• Row counter
• Stitch markers
