Mosaic Knitting Tanya Thomann Spun Ann Arbor.JPG

Interested in adding color to your knitting but still a little timid about using two colors at a time? Mosaic knitting uses only one color per row but relies on cleverly slipped stitches to create a pattern that looks far more tricky than it actually is to create. This class will introduce you to mosaic knitting while you create a one-of-a-kind cowl, inspiring you to explore the technique further by adapting the cowl pattern to use other mosaic patterns.
Pre-requisites: Participants should be familiar with the following: the long-tail cast-on, knitting, purling, and knitting in the round.
Homework: Participants should come to the first class with the beginning of their cowl complete: Cast on 230 stitches. Do not join to work in the round, but work back and forth and knit 6 rows (3 garter ridges).
Materials:
• Two skeins of highly contrasting DK weight yarn, purchased from Spun
• 24” size US4 circular needle
Maximum number of students: 7
