For much of August, we were searching for the perfect project for our Fall KAL. Then Anne, in a moment of inspiration, suggested Joji Locatelli's Girl from the Grocery Store.
Great designer? Check!
Meticulously written pattern? Check!
Fun to knit but not scary for beginners? Check!
Something you can finish before New Year's Day? Check!
As a bonus, Joji designed this pattern at the request of a friend who wished to surprise her sister with the perfect holiday present, so you can bask in seasonal appropriateness as you knit your way to gifting security (or just as you make something nice for yourself--you know we are always in support of you making something nice for yourself).
How does it work?
Come in to Spun any time before Christmas to pick up your yarn and a copy of the pattern. Anne used two skeins of Tosh Merino Light, but two colors of any fingering weight yarn will do (400 yards of one color and 440 yards of another). When you’re finished with your shawl, post a picture to Facebook or Instagram, tagging @spunannarbor, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or bring your wrap in for show-and-tell at the shop. Everyone who joins will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Spun gift card just for participating. If you finish before 2019, you will be entered into a second drawing to win a $70 Spun gift card!
