Pattern: “Echo” by SpoutKnits
Neighborhood Fiber Co. Studio Worsted
It’s fall! Time to listen to your favorite 80s music while you work on your new favorite accessory! We are welcoming cool weather (and the moody beauty of atmospheric guitar-driven tunes) by making “Echo,” a versatile, asymmetrical cowl from Spout Knits that can double as a shoulder cozy if you opt to make one of the larger sizes. “Echo” boasts cozy rings that gracefully stack around your neck and shoulders, with a tapered back (thanks, short rows!) that allows for a neat and flattering fit.
Choose one of three sizes--Regular (185 yards), Super (385 yards), or Mega (750 yards)--and your favorite worsted weight yarn, and craft yourself a beautiful, wearable accessory, even if you never got into one of the best bands to come out of the 80s. Carol is making the “Super Echo,” using just one skein of the Neighborhood Fiber Co.’s Studio Worsted, a hand-dyed knockout from Baltimore that comes in a range of plush hues.
Come in to Spun any time before the end of the year to pick up your yarn and a copy of the pattern. You can of course work on your cowl wherever and whenever, but Carol will be working on hers during our regularly scheduled Friday drop-ins (from 11 to 1), and we’ll be kicking everything off on Friday, September 15. (Expect bunny-shaped treats of some sort, along with high-caliber 80s music.)
When you’re finished, post a picture to Facebook or Instagram, tagging @spunannarbor, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or bring your “Echo” into the shop for show-and-tell.
All participants will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 Spun gift card. Finish your cowl before the turn of the year, and you’ll be entered into a second drawing to win a skein of the Neighborhood Fiber Co.’s Studio Worsted.
