We are excited to be adding a new local fiber to our Spun collection, and we're throwing a party to celebrate! Carla Kohoyda-Inglis, the mad genius behind CJ Koho, has been knitting, spinning, and dyeing yarn for over two decades. As she tells it, "I started knitting because I wanted a cute Peter Rabbit sweater for my oldest when he was a year old. They wouldn't sell me the sweater, but they did sell me the kit and knitting lessons. I figured I'd make one sweater, hate it, and never do it again. Never say never, knitting led to spinning led to dyeing and I haven't stopped since."
Carla's hand-dyed CJ Koho yarn has built a loyal following over the years, and we are happy to be bringing both AuSable and Boyne to the shop. AuSable, a soft and supple fingering-weight Merino-Tencel, comes in a range of knockout colors that will bring a bit of sheen and elegance to your feet (or shoulders, or hands, or what-have-you). Each skein of DK-weight Boyne boasts 600 yards (600 yards!) of bouncy, buttery BFL in Carla's signature colors. Imagine all the pretty things you can make out of a skein or two of this mega-sized Ann Arbor–dyed beauty!
Join us for a free event to welcome Carla and her exceptional goods to the shop. We will enjoy drinks and treats and camaraderie and set the stage for our CJ Koho/Sweet Gems Yarn and Caramels Tasting on Saturday, May 20!
To make the hour(s) extra happy, Carla will also be bringing along a special selection of yarns that will be available in the shop only on Friday afternoon and Saturday.
