Double Knitting or Fakin' Fair Isle (3 hours)
Wednesday, April 26, 6-9pm • $50
Teacher: Beth Battey
Have you always wanted to make a Fair Isle scarf but were afraid to do it? Does the thought of juggling multiple yarns scare you? Do you want to knit a picture into your work? If you answered Yes to any of those questions, then this class is for you!
Using a technique called double knitting, Beth Battey will lead you into the world of color work to create reversible flat fabrics in 2 colors without the stress of learning Fair Isle techniques. We'll learn a 2 color cast on, how to knit continental style, learn a quick new and easy way of purling without moving the yarn for greater tension control. Several 2 color pattern charts will be on hand to choose from during class, or bring your own.
Pre-requisites: Participants need to know the long tail cast on and how to knit, and purl.
Materials: Choose two contrasting colors in worsted weight yarn - one light, one dark for best effect. Size 6 or 7 needles (smaller than usually used for worsted weight) in straight, circular (16" or 24" cable), or long double point needles.
Maximum number of students: 7
