Crochet for Knitters (3 hours)
Friday, March 2, 5:30-8:30pm • $50
Teacher: Beth Battey
Crochet deserves lots of love for its own sake (texture! lace! speed!), but diehard knitters who want to expand their crafting reach also need to have a few basic crochet skills under their belts. This class is designed to help you learn and perfect the crochet techniques knitters need. Beth will show you an easy crochet bind-off to use when you’re running low on yarn, great cast-ons that work for a variety of garments, pretty crochet edgings, how to join two pieces using crochet to create a sturdy seam, how to conquer the provisional cast-on, and more. Note that this class has homework you’ll need to do ahead of time!
Pre-requisites: Participants should be familiar with the following: the long-tail cast-on, knitting, purling, and knitting in the round.
Homework: Participants should come to class with a knitted 5”x5” stockinette swatch that is still on the needles.
• Your knitted swatch, worked up from a skein of light-colored Berroco Vintage Worsted or Stonehedge Shepherd’s Wool, purchased from Spun
• Size US G or H crochet hook
• Needles sized appropriately for yarn to knit swatch
