Beginning Crochet (3 hours)
Friday, March 31, 11a-2p • $50
Teacher: Beth Battey
In Beginning Crochet you will learn how to start a beginning slip knot, how to chain, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, and make a single foundation row or single foundation chain, as well as how to read a basic crochet pattern (written and provided by the instructor). We will practice holding the yarn for ideal tension and practice all basic stitches before beginning our project. We will learn to make a versatile mesh market bag designed by Beth Battey. (The market bag is great for use at the Kerrytown Farmer's Market!)
Materials: One skein of durable, worsted weight yarn purchased from Spun—Cestari Old Dominion 3-ply or Berroco Vintage—in a light color (more if participants choose to make their market bag larger, as the project is of variable size), 1 hook appropriate for the yarn selected (typically a G, H, I or J hook for worsted weight yarn typically)
Maximum number of students: 7
