Beginning Crochet (3 hours)
Friday, March 31, 11am-2pm • $50
Teacher: Beth Battey
Learn a new skill with Beth! Crochet fabrics are lacy and light, perfect for summer. This class will cover how to chain, single crochet, double crochet, and half-double crochet. We'll also learn how to make a single foundation row or single foundation chain, as well as how to read a basic crochet pattern (written and provided by the instructor) and how to hold our yarn for ideal tension, before beginning our project, a versatile mesh market bag. This class is also perfect for knitters who want to learn basic crochet for use in patterns that require the provisional cast-on.
Materials: One skein of durable, worsted weight yarn purchased from Spun—Cestari Old Dominion 3-ply or Berroco Vintage—in a light color (more if participants choose to make their market bag larger, as the project is of variable size), 1 hook appropriate for the yarn selected (typically a G, H, I or J hook for worsted weight yarn typically)
Maximum number of students: 7
