If you’re a beginning knitter, this is the perfect class to build your skills. Working with Sunday on the popular “Reyna” shawl, you’ll learn how to read a basic knitting pattern. In the process, you’ll also learn essential tricks of the trade, gain confidence in your skills, and finish the course with a beautiful handmade shawl to keep you warm through the chilly Michigan springtime and into next fall. The class will cover measuring and maintaining gauge, choosing the right yarn for your pattern, “reading” your knitting, fixing mistakes, adding new skeins, weaving in ends, and more. Whew!
Pre-requisites: Participants should be familiar with the following: casting-on, knitting, purling, and binding off.
Materials:
• 400 yds. of fingering weight yarn, purchased from Spun
• 32” US size US4 circular needle (or size needed to achieve gauge)
• Darning or tapestry needle
Maximum number of students: 7
