Advanced Fair Isle: Steeking (2 days)

Ready to take the next step in your colorwork adventure? With Tanya’s expert help, you’ll tackle steeking, that much-feared and very useful next colorwork frontier. Steeking will quite literally open up any colorwork projects you’d like to tackle, expanding your range considerably. Bring your scissors, and bring your confidence!
Pre-requisites: Participants should be familiar with the following: the long-tail cast-on, knitting, purling, knitting in the round, and basic Fair Isle techniques (holding one color of yarn in each hand and following colorwork charts).
Homework: Participants should come to the first class with their ribbing complete: Cast on 116 stitches (using 16” US3 circulars), join to work in the round (being careful not to twist), and work 1.5” of 1X1 ribbing (K1, P1 around).
• Two skeins of Swans Island All American Sport, purchased from Spun (choose contrasting colors)
• 16” size US3 circular needle AND 16” size US5 circular needle
• US5 double-points (set of five) OR 32” size US5 circular needle (if you prefer magic loop)
• Paper and pencil
• Five ⅝” buttons
